TMA1431 Creative Studio: Micro Project -Digital composites

To kick start this module, I have started very simple by walking around my current surroundings outdoors and taking images of any interesting compositions or interactions that attract my eye. From reviewing the previous lectures notes, the idea of collaboration seems farfetched at this moment with covid-19 restrictions still in place. This has made me rethink ways i can possible develop sets without actually having to psychically be within the space. With the intent behind my original concept to focus on narrative in an image using ideas of surrealism and fantasy photography as a foreground, I have decided to start creating photo montages using elements of layering and masking on photoshop to develop sets that to the untrained eye look very realistic.

However, I am currently in the process of rethinking the direction for my project, as I am now looking at focusing on concepts within advertisement of commercial photography. With this in mind, practice within photoshop is still heavily relevant research to my practice as most
advertisement images today are heavily edited to create unrealistic looking expectations of what they trying to sell.

Below I have provided an example of how i have experimented with changing aspects of the background within images, using two different photos. This manipulation process helps me to think about if it could possibly be used further down the line within my project if restrictions do not change and I can not gain access to a specific place or space I want to shoot.

Another technique I have briefly touched upon, is using colour manipulation to create vary aesthetics, for this practice I chose a neon theme for experimentation of both landscape and portrait images.
