TMA1402 :Introduction

TMA1402
Creative + innovation and entrepreneurship

Live brief for 2020: The Virtual Market

Working in mixed-discipline groups you will plan, develop and launch a creative incubator startup - deliver a project featuring creative work by each member of the group in response to the site of the Queensgate Market, Huddersfield. You will research and learn about the market as a social, cultural and economic site in its historical and present context to create a project which re-imagines its future. Gathering material
collaboratively through a media lab approach, you will learn and develop
project management skills and the ability to work creatively and
entrepreneurially amidst uncertainty and change. After undertaking initial
R&D, you will present your project concept and plan for formative
assessment at the mid-point of the module and then proceed to put the plan into
action. The outcome of the project will be a group presentation of creative
work and a portfolio documenting processes and outcomes including an evaluation
blog kept throughout the project. By necessity, we will be encountering a range
of challenges during the current situation with Covid-19. This module is
designed to enable us to be flexible and responsive to changes required in
terms of physical distancing and compliance with university regulations.
